Kona Fixie from River City Bikes
This bike had a flip-flop rear wheel but I never rode it with the freewheel. I wanted the full experience except skid stops and track stands which I never mastered.
I did spin it as fast as I dared on the Barber to Nato downhill ramp. I was clipped in and struggling to keep some pedal pressure. I was counting seconds: one thousand one, one thousand two, and was pretty sure I turned three crank revolutions in a second.
This is the bike I bought on the day
that I bought it. I’m test riding it up
on Council Crest. I practiced riding,
stopping, riding, stopping. I wasn’t
sure I was hip enough to ride it, but
I wasn’t going to crash. pdf

I especially enjoyed riding fixed in pedestrian traffic. Slowing down seemed natural where as hitting the breaks on a road bike seemed a waste of work.

I rode Seattle's Elliot Bay Trail from Pike Place Market to Smith Cove. 2/4/11.
