Trek 1500 from Bike Gallery
I returned to Bike Gallery shopping for a new bike in the mid '80s after my Fuji frame cracked. I had my eyes on the 1500, the same bike my riding buddy had recently purchased himself.
The store clerk was excited for me and reminded me that I could race this bike. I don't think he meant that I looked like a racer yet, only that the bike wouldn't hold me back.
You don't have to be an athlete to appreciate athletic equipment my friend reminded me.
I slipped this bike through the side door of my Vanagon on my way to work and would put on 15 to 20 miles at lunch. I rode with the Portland Wheelmen on the weekends preferring C and sometime D level rides of 40 to 50 mines. Weekly totals reach 150 miles.
